Why An Elliptical Trainer?

Did you know research has shown that people like you and I experience elliptical trainers as easier than other forms of exercise, like treadmills, steppers, exercise bikes and aerobics? What does this mean to you - at the end of an eliptical training session, you have actually butned MORE calories thian you feel like you have.. read more about why you should have an elliptical trainer

It's true, test subjects did a set period of elliptical training on various types of exercise machines and then at the end of the session, asked to give a verbal rating of how hard they trained

Elliptical trainers represent the marriage of a stair climber and a cross-country-ski machine. Your feet, on pedals, move in flattened circles; your arms, grasping handlebars, move back and forth (you can choose instead to grasp fixed handles, but the handlebars will move without you). The machines resist the motion of your arms and legs with a flywheel that is braked in one of two ways. On most machines designed for home use, the resistance comes courtesy of a band around the flywheel's rim but some of the more expensive machines use an electro magnet to resist the motion of the flywheel.

Ellipticals are among the most widely used machines in health clubs, and the number of participants in elliptical exercise rose from 2.4 million in 1997 to 6.2 million in 2000, according to the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association. Elliptical exercise is a good concept and continues to increase in popularity every year.

Elliptical trainers provide high-intensity, low-impact exercise because your feet never leave the footpads. So, unlike treadmills, impact forces trasmitted through your body are greatly reduced, resulting in fewer orthopedic injuries to the ankles, knees, hips and intervertebral discs.

Whether you're seeking a compact, easy-to-store, inexpensive model or top-of-the-line equipment with programmable, digital controls, a built-in EKG™ pulse sensor and a wide array of other functions, we have reviewed the elliptical trainer that will improve your fitness, burn unwanted calories, and lift your spirits!
